Helping Diaspora Kids Speak Yorùbá with Confidence

In just six months, two siblings in the U.S. moved from limited exposure to confidently speaking Yoruba—building pride in their heritage through patient, engaging, and value-driven lessons.

The challenge

Like many Nigerian families in the diaspora, Mrs. Eniola wanted her children to learn Yoruba but struggled to find classes that were engaging, patient, and culturally grounded. She wanted more than memorisation — she wanted her children to speak confidently and connect with their heritage.

Our approach

Omoluabi Academy provided structured, child-friendly Yoruba lessons that combined:

  • Conversational Yoruba practice

  • Interactive activities tailored to children

  • Cultural values woven naturally into lessons

  • A calm, patient teaching style that encouraged participation

The outcome

After six months:

  • Both children speak Yoruba confidently and proudly

  • They show a deeper connection to their roots

  • Learning became enjoyable rather than forced
